ABOUT TELLING OUR STORIES
Telling Our Stories is an ongoing oral history project that addresses African American representation, which has been a long-standing struggle in the African American experience. Through the Telling Our Stories Oral History Project Themba Arts and Culture works with Black churches and community organizations to document the lived experiences of African American elders that share the rich history and culture of the African American community.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this project is to center and amplify the voices of African Americans to tell our own stories and represent our experience with our own words. Themba Arts and Culture share each project with the public through podcasts, radio broadcasts and documentaries. We also work with universities to archive each oral history interview to make them available to the public for research purposes.
